Bull Terrier Club Championship show 21^st Sept 2025 – Judge: Mark Phillips

First of all, I thank the Bull Terrier Club committee for inviting me to judge their Championship show. I would also like to thank the committee for all their hard work running 2 shows on the same day. Thanks to all those that supported me today in the ring and thanks to my stewards, Maureen and Maria. This is the first time in all the years I have been on the Bull Terrier Club committee (nearly 25 years) that I have judged a show for the Bull Terrier Club so this was a very special appointment for me. The entries are smaller at Championship shows now but better like today to have quality over quantity. It makes for tough decisions and there will be a few more champions of the future from today, I’m sure.

Puppy Dog (0 entries)

Junior Dog (2 entries)

1. Foster’s Ch Buster Hill Bilboen. Eyecatching typy white dog. Super profile with well filled head and good mouth. Excellent expression and strong underjaw. Good reach of neck leading into well laid shoulders with straight front. Shapely body with good hind angulation and good bone. Moved with drive and covered the ground once settled into his stride. On full maturity I’m sure he will be even more impressive. Res Dog CC and RBIS

2. Zabinski’s Zabakrol Quickben. Masculine brindle & white dog. Good profile , fill and length to head with keen eye. Good lay of shoulder and shapely quarters. Good bone for size. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Still needs to body up and give handler an easier time. Promising young dog.

Novice Dog (1 entry)

1. Mills’ Rightstuff Black Knight. Stylish black brindle & white dog. Strong head with good fill and finish. Good expression, mouth OK. Sparkling condition. Good length of neck with shapely forechest. Straight front with good bone and nice feet. Good rear angulation. Needs to body up more. Moved freely and with drive. His handler worked hard and did a good job.

Post Graduate Dog (6 entries, 1 absent)

1. Bunce and Holkham’s Rougebull Fragile Silence at Dougherty. Quality cobby red & white balanced dog. Filled head with good profile and length. Mouth OK. Used ears well. Good expression and underjaw. Decent length of neck leading into shapely body with forechest. Moved with drive and purpose. Showed at one with handler.

Limit Dog (6 entries)

1. Page’s Bullyhinks Fury. Quality typy upstanding white dog. Well filled head with good profile and wicked expression. Nice ears and underjaw with good mouth. Lovely length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Shapely and muscled quarters. When he moved in a straight line moved with drive, parallel and covered the ground, a really good mover. A real picture when the handler stood back from the dog and let him show himself. Throughout the class I kept asking the handler to stand back from the dog which he eventually did but in the challenge he went back to over handling him so I couldn’t see the dog stand up properly and show off his lovely outline.
2. Elward’s Rasels Bull Mr Chaos (Imp SVK) Masculine cobby compact white dog. Strong filled head with good finish and underjaw. Wicked expression. Good mouth. Strong neck with shapely forechest. Well laid shoulders with good spring of rib and powerful quarters. Moved freely and well-presented with sparkling white jacket. Super schooled showman.

Open Dog (3 entries,1 absent)

1. Fletcher’s Ch Napier Pure Copper. Powerful upstanding masculine red & white dog. Oozes power, bone & substance. Super power packed head, turned with excellent finish. Keen expression with good underjaw. Slight mouth fault. Decent neck, straight front, elbows tucked in with good spring of rib. Shapely throughout with well angulated quarters. Shows well for such a big and powerful lad. Moved freely and with drive and covered the ground. Dog CC and BIS
2. Beckinsale’s Teirwgwyn Fully Loaded at Cywbullys. Eyecatching balanced quality white dog. Good head with profile, nice length and fill up. Mouth OK. Good expression and uses ears well. Shapely lines with well angulated quarters and good bone. Showed his socks off. Movement was better coming than going.

Veteran Dog (2 entries,1 absent)

1. Dodd’s Bluepoint Patchogue at Miandale. Quality 8 yrs white dog with black ears. Nicely filled head with good profile. Mouth still ok. Good reach of neck leading into a shapely balanced outline. Moved freely. Showed like a bomb. A great example of a veteran in fab shape.

Puppy Bitch (1 entry)

1. Karta-Williams and Williams’ Karmara’s Gossip Girl. Powerful, feminine white bitch. Strong filled head with finish and expression. Good mouth and underjaw. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good forechest and spring of rib with nicely turned quarters. Shapely outline when free stands. Makes her handler work for it. Moved better coming than going but covered the ground. Best Puppy

Junior Bitch (2 entries,1 absent)

1. Horton’s Vetsbullies My Baby Does Me. Eyecatching quality feminine white bitch. Nicely filled head with long profile. Good expression and underjaw. Mouth OK. Nice neck into shapely bodylines. Still a little immature looking in the line-up. Handler got the most out of her. Moved away with drive.

Novice Bitch (3 entries, 2 absent)

1. Shippam’s Kescostaff Fire Starter. Feminine upstanding brindle & white showgirl. Good profile and fill up. Mouth OK. Good reach of neck into shapely forechest with good hind angulation. Neat feet. Could carry a tad more weight. Drives freely on the move. Handler and bitch as one.

Post Graduate Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)

1. Bunce & Holkham’s Bilboen Tinsel Town At Dougherty. Cobby typy feminine white bitch who in glimpses has it all. Head is filled and super profile with underjaw. Mouth OK. Good length of neck with good bone, shapely forechest and angulated quarters. Moved better in the challenge than in the class but sadly not keen on being a showgirl and wanted to be home on the sofa. Well done to handler who did a good job. Hope she comes out of herself more at shows in the future.

1. Newberry & Bartkowiak’s Abgar The Jaunty Jazz. Eyecatching, upstanding quality brindle & white bitch. Lovely length of head with good profile and fill. Good mouth and expression. Long neck leading into well laid shoulders and shapely bodylines. Moved better coming than going but with drive and showed at one with her handler. Considered her in the challenge.
2. Smalley & Gronburg’s Kensesqui Freyja From Briden. Quality balanced feminine white bitch. Good profile and fill with expression. Decent neck into straight front. Shapely body. Enough bone for size. Moved better coming, a bit closer behind. Showed beautifully.

Open Bitch (6 entries,1 absent) This was a fabulous class

1. Bradley’s Aricon Eyeanna At Olliebrad. Eye catching, top class, upstanding feminine white bitch. Super profile and fill with keen eye and good ear placement. Slight mouth fault. Beautiful neck leading into lovely forechest with straight front and well angulated quarters. Shapely bodylines and good top line. Hard to fault other than a tad out of coat today. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Once handler lets her settle she’s a real picture standing. She fought off some tough competition today to take Bitch CC and BOS.
2. Mountain’s Ch Bilboen Renaissance. Eyecatching powerful and feminine white bitch. Super profile to head and packed with fill. Good mouth and wicked expression. Nice length of neck into well placed shoulders. Straight front with shapely forechest, good spring of rib and nicely turned quarters. Moved away with power and covered the ground. Makes her handler work hard but when she free stands away from her handler, she really fills the eye. Completely different type to 1. Bitch Res CC

Veteran Bitch (2 entries)

1. Galla’s Ch Vetsbullies Killer Queen. Upstanding quality 7yrs brindle & white bitch. Good profile with underjaw and still holding her fill. Good expression and slight mouth fault. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders, shapely fore chest and good depth of rib. Nicely turned quarters. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Showed non-stop. Just maybe a few too many treats. Great to see the veteran dog and bitch with such top quality in the line ups. Best Veteran
2. Malden’s Louka Masked Maiden. Quality feminine 8yrs red & white bitch. Good length head with profile and enough fill. Lovely length of neck with forechest and well turned stifles. Enough bone for size. Good condition. Moved freely and showed at one with handler.
