Bull Terrier Club Championship show 4th October 2026 – Judge: Linda McGregor

It was my great pleasure to judge the Bull Terrier Club Championship show. As we know entries are falling in most breeds but what I lacked in numbers was certainly made up for in the quality of the animals. Although I have been a judge for many years and have judged the Trophies and some of their Open shows at the BTC it was my first appointment as their Championship show judge, thanks to the committee for inviting me and thanks to the exhibitors who showed under me for their sportsmanship.

Puppy Dog (1 entry)
1st Smith’s Waggbullies Pretty Vacant at Jankris  – Nicely presented 7 month old white with black ears, slight mouth fault. Filled head but could do with a touch more arc. Good expression. Straight front and neat feet, Correct topline.  Good bend of stifle, strong quarters and good tail set. As a youngster still needs to body up. Moved freely

Junior Dog (2 entries)
1st Proberts’ David Bowie Opalplast at Llanwenarth – Very typy white with black eye patch, excellent expression. Strong filled head with depth of muzzle and well turned and arced profile. Erect ears.  Level bite with correct canines. Straight front with good round bone. Good spring of rib and deep chest, strong quarters and stands square. He is carrying a tad too much weight, never the less a top quality 15 month old. A very good mover who moved freely and very well both coming and going. RCC

2nd Smally’s Bridens Rock and Roll Star – Upstanding white with small eye patch, slight mouth fault. Well filled head with good turn down. Correct eye and ear set. Good length of neck. Straight front, neat feet. Well balanced all through with strong quarters. Moved fairly well but made it hard work for his handler.

Post Graduate Dog (1 entry)
1st Ahvenainen’s Miandale Frozen in Time – Elegent white with red ears, well filled head with good profile, mouth just off level with correct canines. Correct ear set. Good length of neck, nicely made all through with good topline and tailset. Strong quarters and good bend of stifle. Moved fairly well both ways.

Limit Dog (2 entries, 2 Absent)
1st Sheey & Foster’s Kenleap Brutus for Afanbull –  Handsome Br/w with strong powerful head and good profile and neat ears. Slight mouth fault. Stood square with straight front and good spring of ribs, deep chest, strong quarters and well balanced all through.  Moved fairly well both ways.

Open Dog (4 entries,1 absent)
1st  Catilina’s  Dofro Soulstorm –  Top quality white with black ear, well filled head.  with good roman finish. Correct mouth. Excellent expression. Straight front with good bone and decent feet. Stands square with deep chest and good spring of ribs. Very well balanced throughout with correct topline and strong quarters. Moved very well both ways and with drive. DCC & BOS

2nd Robinson’s Karmara’s Kings Ransom – Upstanding white with black eye patches and ear. Nicely filled head with good profile. Correct mouth. Not as much bone as first. Deep chest, correct topline, good bend of stifle and well made all through. Moved fairly well.

Veteran Dog (1 entry)
1st  Wilson & Taylors  Ragnarok One Step Beyond – Handsome 7 year old white with big black eye patch. Lovely filled head with good profile. Correct mouth. Erect ears. Straight front and good bodylines, strong quarters and well balanced all through. Moved fairly well. BVD & BVIS

Puppy Bitch (1 entry)
1st Davidson’s Adrellbulz Tauriel – Attractive10 month r/w, nicely filled head with good profile, correct mouth. Straight front, decent feet, shapely body, correct tail set. Quite mature for her age but obviously has still some maturing to do. Moved fairly well both ways. BP

Junior Bitch (2 entries,1 absent)
1st  Karta-Williams & Williams Ch Karmara’s Little Witch – Beautiful white with completely filled head, excellent profile and turn down with deep muzzle. Correct mouth. Erect ears.  Good length of neck and well placed shoulders. Straight front, neat feet,  good round bone, deep chest good spring of ribs, short back and correct topline. Well bent stifles and strong quarters and she is so well balanced throughout.  She stands four square and is an absolute picture of an outstanding Bull Terrier.  She made it hard work for her handler on the move, but when settled she moved well both ways. It was my pleasure to award her the CC & BIS.

Novice Bitch (2 entries)
1st  Sheehy & Foster’s Afanbull Munuka Honey – Very pretty smaller type white. Strong well filled head with good expression and correct mouth. Straight front, neat feet, good bone for her size. Nicely balanced all through with good quarters and bend of stifles. Moved fairly well both ways.

2nd Hacket’s Spartiate Dream Weaver – Attractive tri, nicely filled and turned head, level bite. Well balanced all through but could be a bit more tuck underneath. Decent front, feet could be tighter. Strong quarters and moved fairly well.

Post Graduate Bitch (1 entry)
1st Dyson’s Bullwizz Star Attraction Tawnbarr – Quality white with black ear, correct mouth, good expression, nicely filled head, deep chest, strong quarters and stood square. Very well balanced all through, shown in beautiful condition, she moved with drive and is an excellent mover both coming and going, given I am writing after the event she was the best mover on the day.

Limit Bitch (3 entries)
All quality bitches in this class and to be fair I could have placed them in any order and been happy with the placings, but decisions had to be made.

1st Hird’s Blazinbully Golden Girl at Loidisrose – Quality br/w Strong well filled head with deep muzzle which has to be appreciated at it’s best on the more coloured side. Correct mouth. Stood square and nicely balanced all through with good front, correct topline and strong quarters. Moved fairly well.

2nd Robinson’s Islasonbulls Patience – Classy white with red ear. Head is filled and turned with good expression. Good mouth. Very well balanced all through with straight front, strong quarters and correct topline and tailset. Moved fairly well

3rd Shippam’s Kescostaff Fire Starter – Eye catching br/w with strong filled head. Correct mouth. Good reach of neck with shapely body, but a bit longer in the back than first two. Good round bone, correct topline, strong quarters and moved fairly well.

Open Bitch (5 entries, 2 absent) This was a fabulous class
1st Galla’s Ch Vetsbullies Made in Heaven – Top quality white with 2 black eye patches. Head is filled right up with excellent profile.  Correct mouth. Nice round body and really well made all through with good underline. Straight front, good round bone and neat feet. Stands square with good bend of stifles and strong quarters and correct tailset. Moved very well both ways. RCC & RBIS

2nd Young’s Bilboen Whisper in the Dark – Super Bl/br/w, who you can’t miss when she comes into the ring. Beautiful head both filled and turned, slight mouth fault.  Straight front, good length of neck, shapely body and strong quarters, she is a tad upright in the shoulders, but she shows her socks off for a handler who gets the most out of her. Moved fairly well.

3rd Salvado & Kosovets Salvusline Gold River – Quality tri with sweeping profile slight mouth fault. Excellent expression. Good round bone, well made all through with good topine, strong quarters and moved fairly well.

Veteran Bitch (3 entries, 1 Absent)
1st Galla’s Ch Vetsbullies Killer Queen – Quality 8 year old br/w. Lovely filled head, good bone, deep chest, stood square and beautifully balanced all through. Moved well both ways. Her young handler did an excellent job and was absolutely faultless in showing her. BVB

2nd Malden’s Louka Masked Maiden – 9 year old r/w, pleasing head and deep muzzle. Good reach of neck and well made all through with strong quarters and moved fairly well.

Bull Terrier Club Championship show 21st Sept 2025 – Judge: Mark Phillips

First of all, I thank the Bull Terrier Club committee for inviting me to judge their Championship show. I would also like to thank the committee for all their hard work running 2 shows on the same day. Thanks to all those that supported me today in the ring and thanks to my stewards, Maureen and Maria. This is the first time in all the years I have been on the Bull Terrier Club committee (nearly 25 years) that I have judged a show for the Bull Terrier Club so this was a very special appointment for me. The entries are smaller at Championship shows now but better like today to have quality over quantity. It makes for tough decisions and there will be a few more champions of the future from today, I’m sure.

  1. Foster’s Ch Buster Hill Bilboen. Eyecatching typy white dog. Super profile with well filled head and good mouth. Excellent expression and strong underjaw. Good reach of neck leading into well laid shoulders with straight front. Shapely body with good hind angulation and good bone. Moved with drive and covered the ground once settled into his stride. On full maturity I’m sure he will be even more impressive. Res Dog CC and RBIS
  1. Zabinski’s Zabakrol Quickben. Masculine brindle & white dog. Good profile , fill and length to head with keen eye. Good lay of shoulder and shapely quarters. Good bone for size. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Still needs to body up and give handler an easier time. Promising young dog.

Novice Dog (1 entry)

  1. Mills’ Rightstuff Black Knight. Stylish black brindle & white dog. Strong head with good fill and finish. Good expression, mouth OK. Sparkling condition. Good length of neck with shapely forechest. Straight front with good bone and nice feet. Good rear angulation. Needs to body up more. Moved freely and with drive. His handler worked hard and did a good job.

Post Graduate Dog (6 entries, 1 absent)

  1. Bunce and Holkham’s Rougebull Fragile Silence at Dougherty. Quality cobby red & white balanced dog. Filled head with good profile and length. Mouth OK. Used ears well. Good expression and underjaw. Decent length of neck leading into shapely body with forechest. Moved with drive and purpose. Showed at one with handler.

  1. Page’s Bullyhinks Fury. Quality typy upstanding white dog. Well filled head with good profile and wicked expression. Nice ears and underjaw with good mouth. Lovely length of neck leading into well laid shoulders. Shapely and muscled quarters. When he moved in a straight line moved with drive, parallel and covered the ground, a really good mover. A real picture when the handler stood back from the dog and let him show himself. Throughout the class I kept asking the handler to stand back from the dog which he eventually did but in the challenge he went back to over handling him so I couldn’t see the dog stand up properly and show off his lovely outline.
  2. Elward’s Rasels Bull Mr Chaos (Imp SVK) Masculine cobby compact white dog. Strong filled head with good finish and underjaw. Wicked expression. Good mouth. Strong neck with shapely forechest. Well laid shoulders with good spring of rib and powerful quarters. Moved freely and well-presented with sparkling white jacket. Super schooled showman.

  1. Fletcher’s Ch Napier Pure Copper. Powerful upstanding masculine red & white dog. Oozes power, bone & substance. Super power packed head, turned with excellent finish. Keen expression with good underjaw. Slight mouth fault. Decent neck, straight front, elbows tucked in with good spring of rib. Shapely throughout with well angulated quarters. Shows well for such a big and powerful lad. Moved freely and with drive and covered the ground. Dog CC and BIS
  2. Beckinsale’s Teirwgwyn Fully Loaded at Cywbullys. Eyecatching balanced quality white dog. Good head with profile, nice length and fill up. Mouth OK. Good expression and uses ears well. Shapely lines with well angulated quarters and good bone. Showed his socks off. Movement was better coming than going.

Veteran Dog (2 entries,1 absent)

  1. Dodd’s Bluepoint Patchogue at Miandale. Quality 8 yrs white dog with black ears. Nicely filled head with good profile. Mouth still ok. Good reach of neck leading into a shapely balanced outline. Moved freely. Showed like a bomb. A great example of a veteran in fab shape.

Puppy Bitch (1 entry)

  1. Karta-Williams and Williams’ Karmara’s Gossip Girl. Powerful, feminine white bitch. Strong filled head with finish and expression. Good mouth and underjaw. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders. Good forechest and spring of rib with nicely turned quarters. Shapely outline when free stands. Makes her handler work for it. Moved better coming than going but covered the ground. Best Puppy

Junior Bitch (2 entries,1 absent)

  1. Horton’s Vetsbullies My Baby Does Me. Eyecatching quality feminine white bitch. Nicely filled head with long profile. Good expression and underjaw. Mouth OK. Nice neck into shapely bodylines. Still a little immature looking in the line-up. Handler got the most out of her. Moved away with drive.

Novice Bitch (3 entries, 2 absent)

  1. Shippam’s Kescostaff Fire Starter. Feminine upstanding brindle & white showgirl. Good profile and fill up. Mouth OK. Good reach of neck into shapely forechest with good hind angulation. Neat feet. Could carry a tad more weight. Drives freely on the move. Handler and bitch as one.

Post Graduate Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)

  1. Bunce & Holkham’s Bilboen Tinsel Town At Dougherty. Cobby typy feminine white bitch who in glimpses has it all. Head is filled and super profile with underjaw. Mouth OK. Good length of neck with good bone, shapely forechest and angulated quarters. Moved better in the challenge than in the class but sadly not keen on being a showgirl and wanted to be home on the sofa. Well done to handler who did a good job. Hope she comes out of herself more at shows in the future.

  1. Newberry & Bartkowiak’s Abgar The Jaunty Jazz. Eyecatching, upstanding quality brindle & white bitch. Lovely length of head with good profile and fill. Good mouth and expression. Long neck leading into well laid shoulders and shapely bodylines. Moved better coming than going but with drive and showed at one with her handler. Considered her in the challenge.
  2. Smalley & Gronburg’s Kensesqui Freyja From Briden. Quality balanced feminine white bitch. Good profile and fill with expression. Decent neck into straight front. Shapely body. Enough bone for size. Moved better coming, a bit closer behind. Showed beautifully.
  3. Sheehy’s Afanbull Luna Steel

Open Bitch (6 entries,1 absent) This was a fabulous class

  1. Bradley’s Aricon Eyeanna At Olliebrad. Eye catching, top class, upstanding feminine white bitch. Super profile and fill with keen eye and good ear placement. Slight mouth fault. Beautiful neck leading into lovely forechest with straight front and well angulated quarters. Shapely bodylines and good top line. Hard to fault other than a tad out of coat today. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Once handler lets her settle she’s a real picture standing. She fought off some tough competition today to take Bitch CC and BOS.
  2. Mountain’s Ch Bilboen Renaissance. Eyecatching powerful and feminine white bitch. Super profile to head and packed with fill. Good mouth and wicked expression. Nice length of neck into well placed shoulders. Straight front with shapely forechest, good spring of rib and nicely turned quarters. Moved away with power and covered the ground. Makes her handler work hard but when she free stands away from her handler, she really fills the eye. Completely different type to 1. Bitch Res CC
  3. Brown & Hutchings’ Karmara’s Kiss And Tell At Winuwuk

Veteran Bitch (2 entries)

  1. Galla’s Ch Vetsbullies Killer Queen. Upstanding quality 7yrs brindle & white bitch. Good profile with underjaw and still holding her fill. Good expression and slight mouth fault. Strong neck leading into well laid shoulders, shapely fore chest and good depth of rib. Nicely turned quarters. Moved with drive and covered the ground. Showed non-stop. Just maybe a few too many treats. Great to see the veteran dog and bitch with such top quality in the line ups. Best Veteran
  2. Malden’s Louka Masked Maiden. Quality feminine 8yrs red & white bitch. Good length head with profile and enough fill. Lovely length of neck with forechest and well turned stifles. Enough bone for size. Good condition. Moved freely and showed at one with handler.

Nice boy good head and eye, short body. Moved well both ways. He just not want to show his best today.

Very shapely boy that showed his virtues off. Good head and eye short body decent front and hindquarters. Moved well in front and behind, handler can get more out of him. Bright future ahead I think. RDCC

Very good type sound and short bodied nice head and eye good front and stifles moved well both ways.

Very striking rich brindle good head and eye. Slight mouth fault correct top line and tail set. Moved well in front and behind very well handled.

2nd KARMRA’S STOP AND STARE
Good head and eye slightly longer in body than winner. Good front and hind quarters, moved nicely both ways.

1st KENXTWEN LETS GO
Striking red boy lovely make and shape. Good head and eye front and quarters. Short body and compact. When he gets into his stride he moves well. DCC

2nd CH RAGNAROK HALFDAN THE BLACK
Lovely string headed boy longer in body than winner, good front and strong quarters moved well both ways showed and handled nicely.

Very classy girl good head and eye short body clean front and good bend of stifle. Showed and moved well both ways well handled.

Lovely head good expression decent front and quarters moved ok in front a little close behind.

1st VENUS BACK FLASH AT BULLWIZZ Lovely girl showing her head off, short body strong front and quarters. Good head and eye great make and shape handled very well. RBCC

2nd RAGNAROK LAGERTHA
Also a lovely girl pushing winner all the way. Strong head and eye short body good front and hind quarters. Moved well both ways showed and handled well.

1st BLUEPOINT SEA DRAGON AT TEWKABULL
Short body showing very well good head and eye slight mouth fault nice front and good quarters moved nicely both ways.

2nd KARMARA’S KISS AND TELL AT WINUWUK
Longer in body than winner good head and front strong behind moved well both ways.

1st SANSARABULL SINFUL DESIRE AT BULLYVIEW
Very strong girl loads of presence in the ring. Good head lovely reach of neck strong front and quarters great mover both ways showed and handled to perfection. BCC. BOB

2nd BLUEPOINT WHITE SWAN FOR GARTHBULL
Shapely girl nice head and eye good front and quarters moved ok both ways.

Class 14 Veteran Bitch (2)
1st BLAZINBULLY’S SWEET SURPRISE AT RAZORSEDGE
Lovely make and shape good strong head decent top line. Good front and strong behind moved well both ways.

2nd ROMAGNA RUMOUR HAS IT
Older girl than winner but showing well for her age. Strong head and decent front moved nicely handled with love.
